Cable Theft

Suffolk Police are warning the public about an increase in theft of BT cables within Suffolk.

Offenders lift manhole covers or force cable boxes and cut through cables leaving local residents without phone and internet connection.

The public are being asked to look out for things like:

  • Work being carried out in streets and on roads by people not wearing hi-visibility vests, using unmarked vans, flatbed trucks or 4×4 vehicles.
  • Removed or disturbed cable box covers.

Police would urge residents to report any suspicious behaviour or vehicles seen in their local areas by either dialling the non-emergency number 101 or 999 if they believe a crime is in progress.
