Due to the increasing cost of road diesel, more and more fuel is being stolen from lorries either parked in their yards or whilst drivers are taking their breaks in lorry parks and in lay-bys.
There was a spike in offending during the summer months last year and in Norfolk they also saw an increase in Diesel thefts, where red diesel was also being targeted.
In Suffolk the majority of thefts have been from stationary lorries parked up off the main roads, however compounds and farms are also being targeted. In some instances large amounts of fuel has been taken which suggests that offenders could be using a large lorry or container.
