Close It, Lock It, Check It

Most burglaries are committed by opportunist criminals who happen to see insecure premises where they can help themselves to the property inside. In most cases the burglary could have been prevented.

Most common factors officers find when investigating burglaries are:
• Back gardens are accessible (ie back gates not locked, fences not high enough)
• Items left in gardens used to force entry (ie bricks,garden tools)
• Lack of security lighting
• Lack of lights left on in the house when unoccupied
• Keys left in locks.

Heart FM are supporting Suffolk Police, in their campaign to highlight the importance of securing your home and your property, by broadcasting a series of adverts. These adverts can be heard during the early morning show from 6.00am to 10.00am and then again during the evening between 7.00pm and 12.00 midnight. National Rogue Trader Week – 22nd – 26th April 2013

Suffolk Trading Standards and Suffolk Police, Safer Neighbourhood Teams are running a week-long operation aimed at raising awareness of rogue traders and distraction burglaries. Suffolk Trading Standards have more information about this on their website.
